FIRE crews have been called to a substantial fire at a business premises in Welshpool.
Crews from Welshpool, Montgomery, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanfyllin and Newtown are all at the scene tackling the inferno.
One bystander described seeing smoke from the blaze, which has broken out at the Newtown end of Welshpool Recreation Ground, from across Welshpool town centre.
Social media users reported seeing the blaze from as far away as Leighton and Berriew.
"You can smell and see smoke from the town centre," he said.
"When you get closer to the Welshpool Town football and rugby pitches you can see flames above the buildings.
"There are strong winds, which I'd imagine aren't helping. There's about five or six fire engines at the scene."
A spokesman for Montgomery Fire Station confirmed the call-out happened at around 2.20pm on Sunday afternoon, and said the incident was at a commercial premises.
A number of calls were made to the Powys Fire Command at about 2pm.
