Powys Council is still accepting planning applications electronically during the coronavirus shutdown, the authority has said.

Planning committee meetings have been cancelled along with other non-essential council meetings, and hard copy planning applications are not being received.

But the authority is still taking electronic applications, and holding discussions on them.

It will not, however, hold public consultations or site visits, and new applications will only be decided once staff are able to complete all the necessary paperwork.

Also, for now enforcement issues can only be registered and then put on hold.

This is because staff will not be able to conduct site visits to see if planning law is being flouted.

An exception to this is staff visits can be justified as enforcement action is needed on violations that impact on "essential” or “critical” council work.
