Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he has tested positive for coronavirus.

He has mild symptoms, and will self-isolate inside Downing Street – but also says he intends to be in charge of the Government's handling of the crisis.

He announced the news in a short video on social media.

He said he had a temperature and persistent cough, and had his test on the advice of the chief medical officer.

"Be in no doubt I continue to communicate with all my top team to lead the national fightback against coronavirus," he said.

Earlier this week Prince Charles was also diagnosed with a mild form of the virus, and is recuperating in Scotland.
