Montgomeryshire Literary Festival, which was set to take place in Montgomery in June, has been rescheduled for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sarah Morris, chair of the festival, said: "With huge regret, Monty Lit Fest has made the decision to cancel the festival for 2020. As the scope and scale of the CV-19 epidemic unfolds, it has become clear that we have no other option but to put the safety of our speakers, audiences, volunteers and partners ahead of any other concerns.

"We’re all, of course, extremely disappointed. The community in Montgomery has welcomed us so warmly, and, together, we created a programme of events which promised a truly wonderful literary weekend."

The plan is for the festival to take place at the time time and same place next year; June 11 to 13.

"In the meantime, look out for plenty of book-related news and views from us – and please continue to support our local bookshops as best you can. We will be back bigger and better than ever in 2021," Sarah said.
