Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is taking steps to keep staff and communities safe in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
A Critical Incident Team has been set up to meet on a daily basis to evaluate the ongoing situation, while frontline firefighters will be prioritised.
On Wednesday morning, the service said: "We want to reassure you that in an emergency, should you need the Fire and Rescue Service we will still respond immediately."
Staff who are affected by the changes will be contacted shortly to make sure suitable alternative work is found.
"The continued effective functioning of the service and the welfare of frontline operational and support staff is a priority and the service, consistent with Welsh Government advice, has moved to the delay phase.
"As a result, we are now prioritising our frontline operational response capability, and scaling back some non-statutory services.
"Thank you all for your understanding and continued support during these unprecedented challenging uncertainties."
