Owners at Oswestry’s Stonehouse Brewery say plans to expand include providing safer car parking for customers and residents.

The plans to build a single-storey extension at its base in Weston were submitted to Shropshire Council in January, and were firmed up last week.

They want to build a bigger bar and car park, as well as a kitchen for use on site for their beer and pizza evenings – currently bringing them in from Lepones Italian Restaurant in Oswald Road.

But Alison Parr, who owns the business with husband Shane, says they want to offer more food options as well as ensure their customers stay away from nearby neighbours.

“At the moment, we are very busy on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon and we would like visitors to be able to come to visit us throughout the week,” she said.

“We’re not changing what we’re doing, just firming up what we do. We’re changing our car park as it gets very busy on the road, and we want to make sure we don’t impinge on the neighbours.”

However, the plans have received objections from nearby residents. including Daniel Smith, from Ivy Cottage, who said: “Stonehouse Brewery, at the start was an acceptable nice little micro-brewery that had little impact on the residents.

“However, the site is inadequate for their plans because the business has already grown above the initial application and they are still developing.”
