Caereinion High School headteacher Philip Jones has extended his contact to 2021.

The award-winning headteacher took over as leader of the secondary school in January 2019 following the departure of Iona Davies.

Mr Jones said he has settled in the community and agreed a further extension to his contract.

β€œIt is a proud community and one that I am personally proud to represent,” he added.

Within 12 months of leading the school, Mr Jones won the Judges Special Award at the 2019 Powys Business Awards, for embracing the business community and seeing the benefits of partnership working.

Mr Jones was made Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School in Wales when he led Heolddu Comprehensive School in Caerphilly in 2009.
