A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle and careless driving following a crash in Llanwrtyd Wells.

He, and another man, were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny with injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the "serious" collision which happened at about 12.30am on Friday, January 24.

A car collided with the Premier Stores in the town centre causing "substantial damage".

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: "A Renault Clio had collided with a supporting pillar at the store, causing structural damage.

"A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, and careless driving.

"Road closures remain in place and a structural assessment will take place later today."

Welsh Ambulance Service said they were called to reports of a collision on Dolecoed Road shortly before 12.30am.

A road closure is in place for five days, Powys County Council said.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llanwrtyd Wells and Llandovery helped making the scene safe alongside Dyfed-Powys Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
