Emergency services are searching the River Severn near Aberbechan Bridge after a man entered the river in Newtown.
Police received a call concerned for the safety of the man at 11.25am on Friday (January 17). He entered the river on Broad Street.
The road to Aberbechan Bridge is closed at the junction with the A483.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed firefighters are at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a call concerning the safety of a man who entered the river at Broad Street, Newtown, at around 11.25am today (January 17).
"A multi-agency search is ongoing near Aberbechan Bridge. The road is closed at the junction with the A483.”
