MR Lau’s is celebrating Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat in style on Saturday, February 1.

As usual, the Springfield Street dim sum restaurant has planned a host of special events to celebrate in addition to a luxury banquet.

There will also be a traditional lion dance, firecracker display and live entertainment until late.

Warrington Food and Drink Award winner Mr Lau’s, run by Pamela Lau and Adamo Devoti, opened six years ago in the Cultural Quarter – becoming the town’s first dim sum restaurant.

Dim sum is a form of Chinese tapas with dishes ranging from small dumplings, to fried meat and vegetables.

Adamo and Pamela met while studying at Priestley College together in 2000.

Pamela’s dad started Danny’s Kitchen on Bridge Street while her grandfather owned a popular restaurant in Sale and even cooked for Prince Charles and Princess Diana in Liverpool in the 1980s.

Tickets, which include all your food, are £45. They are available from mrlaus.com or by calling the ticket hotline on 428575. Doors open at 7pm
