A total of just under £600 was raised for the Wales and Midlands Air Ambulances, the Knighton Food Bank and other Rotary supported local charities, when Knighton and District Rotary Club held collections in the town.

Rotarians were at the town’s Co-op store on Tuesdays, December 3 and 17 collecting for the local good causes.

“We were delighted with the support for our fundraising efforts from the community of Knighton. People put their hands in their pockets as soon as they knew Rotary was collecting for charity,” said Rotary president Chris Price.

“Their generosity, cheerfulness and friendliness was overwhelming, especially at a time of year that already makes so many demands on them.”

Rotary community chair Nick Stimpson added: “We have to thank the Co-op in Knighton for allowing us to collect over these two Tuesdays. Without their support we would not be able to be here at this time.”

Rotary members were also pleased to have local Wales Air Ambulance representative Andrew Catling join them for the December 17 collection.

“Many thanks to all our supporters and merry Christmas and happy New Year!” they say.
