PUPILS from Ysgol Dyffryn Trannon were delighted to receive a cheque for £1,000 to buy iPads for their school, following dairy firm Llaeth y Llan’s recycling competition raffle draw.

Pupils from the Trefeglwys school took part in Llaeth y Llan’s two-part recycling competition which is giving schools all over Wales the opportunity to win prizes worth up to £1,000 on a monthly basis.

Schools are asked to recycle Llaeth y Llan yogurt pots in a fun and useful way, capturing the process at each step, along with their final design, awarding the 10 best designs with £1,000 in cash. Schools must register on their website and collect a minimum of 200 Llaeth y Llan yogurt pot lids. This qualifies each school for Llaeth y Llan’s monthly raffle draw.

Llaeth y Llan’s School Project Leader said: “We as a company believe it’s essential to educate children of the importance of recycling to secure the future of our planet. Recycling competition winners will be announced on March 1, 2020, St David’s Day.

“We are extremely excited to see the designs created by each school using our pots.

“The company is glad to be able to give £20,000 worth of prizes to schools that have suffered budget cut after budget cut.

“School funding on its own is simply not going to buy schools vital equipment such as Chromebooks, school garden supplies, sports gear and school trips. We want every school in Wales to have an equal opportunity to win their share of our £20,000 prize fund.

“Each month a winner is picked at random by a representative at primary schools in various locations in Wales.

Each raffle is taken on the last Friday of each month until June 26, 2020.”
