MONTGOMERYSHIRE Assembly Member Russell George paid a visit to Llandinam Primary School to announce the winner of his Christmas card competition.

The winning entry was drawn by Year 6 pupil Sophie Pugh, which Mr George said best captured the spirit of Christmas.

The paint-printed design shows Rudolph the Reindeer and his very shiny nose looking towards the moon.

Sophie's winning entry will now be used as the Montgomeryshire AM’s official Christmas card which will be sent to people and organisations across Wales.

Mr George said: “This is the ninth year that I have run my Christmas card competition.

“The standard of entries was again very high indeed. I would like to thank Sophie Pugh from Llandinam School for designing my Christmas card.

"The competition was open to all primary schools in Montgomeryshire, and this is the second time in recent years that a pupil from Llandinam School has won the competition.

Mr George added: "I’d like to thank all the children who took part."

The AM presented Sophie with a certificate, voucher and a copy of her card in front of her schoolfriends and teachers at Llandinam Primary School on Monday, December 9.
