THE streets of Oswestry were lit up with music, market stalls and whizzing fairground rides on Friday night ahead of the Borderland Rotary Christmas Parade on Saturday morning.
The streets were packed as revellers threaded their way through the crowded streets to visit the stalls, the shops, the pubs and the fairground, organised by Oswestry town council, Oswestry town market and Oswestry BID.
The Borderland Rotary Christmas Parade was a great success with 55 floats of all shapes and sizes.
The Mayor, Councillor John Price and Mayoress Joyce Barrow were on hand to judge the floats and present the prizes.
Best Children’s prize went to Oswestry Brownies; the Youth prize to Oswestry Scouts; Non-commercial prize to the Spinal Injuries Unit and the Commercial prize was won by Cleo Elizabeth Dance Co.
The parade provided a tremendous boost for town traders.
Margaret from Willow Gallery said: “We were close to running out of everything and we were run off our feet all day! I’ll be glad to sit down.”
Maxine at the Flower Gallery added: “Everyone seemed so jolly and Christmasy; it’s wonderful to see such a great turnout!”
