The Fire Tones have re-released their charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas' in time for this year's festive season.

Made up of firefighters from Welshpool, Mid Wales, and all across the UK, the group reached number one on the CD single chart last year; and at one point had the top selling single on iTunes.

Now thousands more copies of the disc have been ordered for its re-release on Monday, December 1 - all with the aim of raising more money for charity.

“It would be really great if we could improve our position in the chart but whatever happens we’ll still be raising cash for The Fire Fighters Charity and The Band Aid Charity Trust,” said Chris Birdsell-Jones.

But this re-release won't be the end of the group. "The Fire Tones will be doing something else in the future. Watch this space," said Chris.

He was the Welshpool firefighter who came up with the idea and rallied firefighters together from across the country to record the song together; including Stevie McCrorie, a past winner of The Voice, and Andy Quinn, the unexpected star of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

"We really want to thank the community for all their support last year. It would be great if they could share our song again," Chris said.

This weekend people can pop into The Royal Oak during Welshpool's Christmas lights switch-on and Winter Festival to buy their copy of the charity single.
