Llandrindod Wells is the fifth happiest place to live in the UK, and the happiest place to live in Wales, according to a new survey.

More than 22,000 people across Great Britain took part in Rightmove’s Happy at Home survey, which asks residents how happy they are where they live, as well as asking them to rank 12 happiness factors, across 194 areas.

The 12 factors range from how safe residents feel and how friendly the neighbours are, to how good the local services are, the level of community spirit and the quality of cultural activities in the area.

Steve Deeks-D'Silva, mayor of Llandrindod Wells, said he "totally agrees" with the ranking and that it's "fantastic" news.

"We have a wonderful sense of community. There are loads of events that attract people. We live in one of the most beautiful ports of the country.

"In the actual town itself we have the lake and as far as the town council is concerned the leisure park has been a huge success and I hope it will be next summer too.

"All the people are kind and friendly and we've got independent shops too. It's just a wonderful place to live," Cllr Deeks-D'Silva said.
