Hilarious footage shows the two-year-old star of a viral tear-jerking Christmas advert causing havoc in the middle of a TV interview by climbing all over his dad.

Little Arthur Jones has been making headlines after appearing in a festive commercial made by Hafod Hardware in Rhayader.

His father Tom Jones, 30, made the two-minute video with film-maker friend Josh Holdaway, to give big budget retailers John Lewis and M&S a run for their money.

Tom was interviewed about the hit advert, which cost less than £100 to make, by Rachel Burden on BBC 5 Live on Wednesday morning.

But while Tom was filming on his computer webcam, mischievous Arthur once again stole the show by clambering all over his dad live on air and blocking the camera.

Tom said “Arthur just climbs over me all the time. Its no surprise he wanted to be the centre of attention and steal the limelight again.

“He’s very much a daddy’s boy. We do a lot of play-fighting, but he did make it pretty tricky to concentrate while I was trying to give over a serious message.

County Times:

"I've been amazed at the reaction to the video. I never expected it to take off as much as it has but I'm really proud it has. Its just exploded overnight really."

During his interview with the BBC, Tom says to the camera: “The story this year is about how everyone says Christmas is just for kids. Well we can all be a kid this Christmas.

“The underlying message is..I understand that Christmas can be a very expensive time for everyone but if they can afford to, try and shop at independent shops a bit.

“Arthur comes to the shop quite a lot to see me and his great-grandmother and he loves it there, it's his second home.

County Times:

“He tries to help me all the time and cleans the counters and sweeps the floor and helps daddy, so it's all second nature to him. He loves it.”

Presenter Rachel laughs as Arthur clambers over his father and says: "Don't worry, let him run around."

The two-minute advert was filmed and edited all in a day and has already won over the hearts of the nation who have branded it the "best Christmas advert of 2019".

The video begins with little Arthur getting out of bed before donning his apron and carrying out a day's 'work' at the family-run hardware store.

County Times:

Sweeping the floors, polishing the counter and replacing stocks on the shelves are all part of his duties as the busy boy is also on hand to deal with customers - all with a friendly smile and big thumbs up.

The commercial - which features four generations of Tom's family - has a special twist at the end when Arthur shutting up shop before carrying home a Christmas tree.

It is the third year in a row that Hafod Hardware, which opened in 1895 and is one of the oldest businesses in the town, have released a Christmas advert.

The previous commercials have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times to huge acclaim and Tom is again hoping to once again put a smile on people's faces.

Tom added: "We are just a small independent shop in Mid Wales trying to compete with the big boys like John Lewis and M&S.

“We've shown that it can be done on a very small budget.”
