Three people were hurt in a crash involving a tractor and a van near Llanfair Caereinion.

A man was cut free from a transit van by firefighters and was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance.

Two injured people were freed from the vehicles before the fire service arrived.

The collision happened at 1.11pm on Tuesday, December 3, near Llanfair Caereinion.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two casualties were freed from the vehicles prior to the arrival of the Fire Service, whilst a third casualty was extricated from the van by firefighters, using hydraulic cutting equipment.

"The male casualty was then treated by Paramedics."

The Fire Service made the vehicles safe and left the incident with the Dyfed-Powys Police at 3.03pm. 

A Welsh Ambulance Service’s spokesperson said: “We were called today (December 3) at approximately 1.11pm to reports of a road traffic collision near Llanfair Caereinion.

She added: "We responded with one emergency ambulance and one rapid response vehicle. One patient was transported to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”

Firefighters from Llanfair Caereinion Fire Station have said they would like to take the opportunity to remind motorists the dangers of driving in Winter.

They said: "Please take care on narrow roads this time of year, as the combination of low sun and greasy roads can result in both poor visibility and increased braking distances."
