A TATTOO studio which only opened in Llandrindod Wells in July has won a Welsh Enterprise Award.

Precision Ink International Tattoo Studios, on Park Crescent, has been awarded Best Tattoo & Piercing Studio 2019.

Gemma Morgan, one of the owners and tattoo artists at the studio, said: “It was quite a shock. We got an email to say we had been entered. We had just opened up. And then we were told we had won it.”

The studio owners didn’t enter the competition themselves: an anonymous nominee put them forward.

“I want to thank whoever it was. To open up and win an award so soon is amazing.”

Precision Ink is part of a group which was first established in the USA in 1990.

In 2018 two linked studios opened in the UK; the first in Altrincham, Manchester, and the second in Knighton, Mid Wales. Since then the Knighton studio re-located to Llandrindod Wells.

“It’s taken off so well,” said Gemma; speaking of the move.

She said: “It works well being in Mid Wales because other studios are quite a distance for people to go to.”

The artists at Precision Ink specialise in a wide range of styles all across the board, including realism and watercolour. The studio also specialises in cover-up tattoos for old or unwanted ink as well as scars and cosmetic tattoos.

“We care deeply about what we do every day. Our unique tattoo styles guarantee that we have the very best staff all over the world and at the top level of each style. Our team of tattooists reflects a group of diverse individuals with breadth and depth of experience across the tattoo and piercing industry. What makes us unique is the family atmosphere and the level of care and aftercare that goes with every tattoo and piercing,” the studio said.

Last Friday Precision Ink raised money for Children in Need by giving half of its profits to the charity.
