AN ELLESMERE man, known as the Tree Hunter, has just finished filming a documentary on trees.

Rob McBride, founder of Ellesmere-based TREEspect CIC, has recently taken part in the ITN documentary which was filmed in a private estate in the south east of England with naturalist, Chris Packham and TV host John Humphrys.

Rob enjoyed meeting the Mastermind host and said that the tree filmed in the show is one of the largest of its kind in the world.

“I met John and we got on really well,” said Rob. “Having a relaxed time filming and joking, especially about my bad tree jokes.

“The tree filmed is magnificent. It is one of the largest oaks on the planet.

“We even got inside with the camera crew – you could fit a dozen folks inside the tree.”

Chris Packham: Plant a Tree to Save the World will air on Thursday at 8pm on Channel 5.
