A PIZZA delivery driver failed to return to base after making his one and only drop for a Wrexham-based takeaway.

Ryan Dennis Moore, 27, of Fron Goch, Ruabon, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft after approaching Pen-y-cae Kebabs and Pizza seeking work as a delivery driver.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, told Mold Magistrates Court how Moore entered the fast food outlet on April 6 this year and asked the owner, Gencay Akbas, if he required any assistance.

After showing Mr Akbas proof that he holds a full driving license, Moore was given a £28 order of food to deliver, as well as £12 in petty cash.

However, despite successfully delivering the takeaway, Moore failed to return to the shop with either the money or the food delivery bag.

Catherine Jagger, defending, told the court the case was an unusual situation in that her client had actually made the delivery but an argument had ensued over the telephone in relation to the length of time it had taken him to do so.

Ms Jagger said her client thought “stuff you, I’m not bringing your bag back” and how it had very much been a spur-of-the-moment thing.

Moore was fined £40 and must pay £140 compensation to Mr Akbas for the non-returning of the bag and the value of the food order and petty cash.

Moore must also pay other court costs totalling £115.
