A HUGELY popular after school club in Wrexham has closed its doors for the last time.

Clwb TTP after school club based at St. Anne's Catholic Primary School in Caia Park held a closing party for staff and pupils to mark its last day.

The club opened in 2010 and provided childcare for pupils at Gwenfro and Hafod Y Wern primary schools, as well as St. Annes Primary School.

But due to being unable to secure a committee, the club has sadly closed its doors.

Parents said the club will be missed and had provided quality and affordable care for children in the community, and one parent is said to have been forced to resign from her job due to its closure.

Staff and children enjoyed a last party which included fun from Wrexham-based DJ, Martyn's Disco.

Parent Marie Blackwell said: "I know club staff Edna O'Hagan, Sarah Jeffries, Beth Haynes, Georgia Davies and Lisa Marie Williams were all very sad and will miss the children who attended.

"But thankfully all former staff members have secured new jobs.

"Edna said she had loved working at the club for the last nine years and is hoping local schools will find another way to provide childcare for the community in the future.

"It is a great loss of a fabulous after school club."
