MILLIONS of people watched them sing live on television and now you can join them too.

Builth Male Voice Choir is calling for more people to join at a social evening for potential choristers who can stay in tune.

“Builth is a social choir, a friendly group of more than 50 members who sing for pleasure and help to raise money for charities,” said a choir spokesperson.

“No previous choral experience is necessary – the ability to sing in tune and be prepared to practice on a regular basis is all that is required.”

The Choir, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, sang at The Royal Welsh Show and featured on BBC’s ‘The One Show’ and ‘Bargain Hunt’, ITV Wales’ ‘Coast & Country’ and on S4C.

Builth Male Voice Choir says the social evening is a chance to meet choir members and find out about the benefits of membership.

“The mental and physical health benefits of singing have been highlighted in recent studies and Gareth Malone through his many TV programmes has shown what great enjoyment and fulfilment people experience when singing together even though they have no previous experience,” said the spokesperson.

“Builth Choir has a proud tradition so why not come along and see if you would enjoy all that this pastime provides.”

Next month, the choir will be part of a ‘super choir’ of 80 voices which includes Rhayader Male Voice Choir, and pupils from Cefnllys Primary School and Ysgol Calon Cymru for a special performance in aid of the two schools.

The Choir’s open social evening will be on Saturday, November 9, from 7.30pm in The Greyhound Hotel, Builth Wells. Those interested in finding out more about singing in the choir are invited to bring their partners along to meet choir members and their partners.
