Communities near Oswestry have been put on alert of flooding.
Heavy rainfall has left the Severn Confluence – where the River Severn and River Vyrnwy meet – swollen with the Environment Agency now issuing a flood alert.
The affected area includes Llanymynech, Maesbrook, Melverley and Crew Green.
A peak of 3.3 metres was experienced at 10.30am on Saturday and levels are now falling.
A spokesperson said: "River levels are falling, but still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
