THE chairman of Llay Community Council has said he was "very concerned" at the lack of services being offered to the youths of the village.

Cllr Bryan Aplsey was speaking at the council's monthly meeting on Wednesday, where he also suggested Wrexham council would need very little encouragement to try to get rid of the facility. He said: "I'm very concerned with what's been going on with the youth club.

"There's a distinct lack of service coming from the officers and I think it's being encouraged. We've been told today that one of the offices is going to become a barbershop.

"I think any encouragement they (Wrexham council) get, will lead to them closing the youth club.

"We decided in the AGM before last that we would have a youth committee and I think it's now urgent that we get on and hold a meeting."

Cllr Apsley went on to say that damage had recently been caused to inside of the building, and that in the past, the youth club had been banned from using the facility for a number of weeks.

He added: "I don't want the youths around here to have nothing to do.

"I blame officers, because if they knew what was going on around here, which is very little, they'd know they weren't doing their job properly.

"I think it's so important that the youth committee meet as soon as possible so we can report back to the council and tell them how Llay's youth get nothing."
