The T4 bus service, which runs between Newtown and Cardiff, will be partially suspended during October half-term due to roadworks.

Between Monday, October 28, and Friday, November, 1, there will be a road closure which effects the entire of the T4 bus route. There will be no buses running between Builth Wells and Brecon, and there will be some disruption to buses running between Newtown and Builth and Brecon and Cardiff.

The Trunk Road Agency have scheduled major carriageway reconstruction on A470 through Llyswen from start of the 30mph zone (northbound side) covering Griffin Inn junction to the petrol station.

An email sent to county councillors, from the Powys County Council, said: "Although we have tried to negotiate a partial closure enabling public transport to remain unaffected, we have been informed there will not be access for any vehicles and had to make emergency arrangements.

"The service bus diversion route via Llandovery would be far too lengthy and unable to make connections with other vehicles, or hold any consistent timetable. With this in mind, unfortunately we have no option but to suspend service between Builth Wells and Brecon for this week. We will endeavour to pass this message to as many residents as possible through social media, and roadside publicity which will be updated at the earliest opportunity.

The following services will not operate:

Southbound:

06:07 - Crossgates to Builth Wells

06:35 – Newtown to Builth Wells

20:10 – Newtown to Builth Wells

Northbound:

06:30 – Brecon Interchange to Builth Wells

07:57 – As above

09:59 – As above

11:59 – As above

13:59 – As above

15:59 – As above

16:10 from Cardiff will terminate at Bishop’s Meadow, Brecon

18:30 from Cardiff will terminate at Bishop’s Meadow, Brecon.

The Sunday timetable will run as normal. School and college transport is not affected as it is half-term.

Powys County Council said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but unfortunately there is little we can do at this time. Due to the closure taking place within half-term, passenger numbers are much lower and disruption is kept to a minimum."
