Hybu Cig Cymru’s John Richards will be the guest speaker at the upcoming NFU Cymru Montgomeryshire county meeting.

At the meeting, which will take place at the Elephant and Castle Hotel, Newtown, on Thursday, October 17, at 7.30pm, Mr Richards will discuss the current issues surrounding beef prices and post-Brexit plans to promote red meat.

Joe Mault, NFU Cymru county adviser for Montgomeryshire, will also outline the proposals included within the current Welsh Government ‘Sustainable Farming and our Land’ consultation that include a new sustainable farming payment that doesn’t include stability measures to underpin food production.

Alex Higgs, NFU Cymru Montgomeryshire county chairman said: “The current beef price situation is not being helped by the uncertainty we are facing with regards to Brexit. I’d like to thank John Richards for agreeing to come along and speak to us about this worrying issue.

“With regards the consultation, it is even more significant than last year’s ‘Brexit and our Land’ consultation was. I urge you all to come along and hear about the proposals within the consultation document to ensure you are fully aware of what the proposed new schemes will involve. I look forward to seeing you all there.”
