IT WAS definitely a case of keep calm and carry on at Welshpool’s 1940s Weekend as inclement weather failed to dampen the spirits of revellers who sang along, danced and sat through non-stop entertainment, even during the showers.

Chairman of the organising committee, Alan Crowe, said the showers were heavy when they came but everyone just got on with it and a good time was had by all.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to my small committee, the volunteer helpers, everyone who travelled far and wide to be with us,” Mr Crowe said.

More businesses dressed their windows this year.

The winners were: Best Professional/Non Retail: Lloyds Bank; Best Retail: Celtic Company; Best Charity Shop: Severn Hospice.

“It is hoped as the event grows in popularity more and more businesses will get behind it and help attract even more and more people to the town,” Mr Crowe said.

Fundraising for the 2020 event has already began with a prize bingo night held earlier this week.
