A MAGICAL evening of musical theatre, delivered by local young and talented people, is in store as the MA Stage School hit The Hafren, at Newtown, this Saturday, October 5.

The 'Magic of The Musicals' show starts at 7pm with tickets costing £12 or £7 for children, from The Hafren box office on 01686 614555.

“Our talented young performers have been working hard learning songs and choreography from hit shows such as 'Annie', 'Matilda', 'Lion King', 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', '80s Remix' and so much more,” said Melanie Jayne Lee who runs the Musical Arts Stage School classes at Newtown and Welshpool, offering young people aged four to 18 training in acting, dance and singing.

“I organised the 'Stand Up to Cancer' concert at Newtown at the beginning of the year! where over 300 young people performed to raise £5,000 for cancer charities.

“After the show’s success the young people and parents who worked with me, asked that I continue training their children.

"Realising my passion for teaching again I opened up a musical theatre school in Newtown and Welshpool giving young people in Mid Wales opportunities to train, grow in confidence and perform.

“The school has been open for six months and is thriving, with over 75 students in Newtown and Welshpool.

“Josephine Catherwood, our singing teacher, and I are so excited to see the children perform. They have been working incredibly hard learning songs, drama sketches and choreography from hit musicals from the West End and Broadway.

“MA Stage School meet on a weekly basis and will be taking on new students after our show,” said Melanie.
