Builth Wells Post Office is officially reopening next month after more than 11 months absence.

The Post Office has announced that the town centre branch will relaunch on Friday, November 1.

The new High Street branch will be based at homeware store Nightshades - three doors down from its former location.

Jeremy Kiff, Post Office Change Manager said: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs."

When the move goes ahead, the branch would open from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

Liberal Democrat MP Jane Dodds said the Post Office's closure in December 2018 impacted residents and businesses in the area.

"Builth has been majorly affected by the loss of the post office, which closed despite a strong campaign from Kirsty Williams and others to keep it open.

"The temporary mobile service offered just wasn't good enough to meet people's needs and that's why I'm so glad we're getting a full-time post office back. It's now important we all make sure to use it to make sure we protect its place in the town!"

Kirsty Williams AM added: "I am so pleased that Builth Wells will now have a permanent presence in the town from the Post Office".

Post Office products and services will be offered throughout shop opening hours from an open-plan till at the shop counter instead of from a separate screened counter.

Although the decision to reopen the branch has already been taken the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move.

Customers can share their views at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 151644 until Tuesday, October 29.
