The A490 near Guilsfield will remain closed for some time following a landslide involving around 100 tonnes of material, Powys County Council (PCC) has said.

The landslide near the Valley View Holiday Park, Pentre’r Beirdd happened on Sunday, September 29, after hours of torrential rain; closing the road between Welshpool and the A495. Diversions have been put in place.

A spokesperson for PCC said: “Around 100 tonnes of material including soil, stone and trees have covered the road and highway engineers are currently assessing the site.

“We are working with the Valley View Holiday Park but it is likely the road will remain closed for some time. As soon as we have more information we will inform residents and motorists.”
