Iolo Williams will be in Llandrindod Wells in tonight's episode of Iolo's Street Life, as he meets an 'alien species of toad'.

The Midwife Toad is native to France and Spain and makes a noise described as a supermarket checkout scan.

A spokesperson from the BBC Wales programme said: "On a Llandrindod Wells’ street, noisy neighbours are keeping people awake on a warm summer night. Iolo discovers the source of the noises that can best be described as similar to a supermarket checkout scan are coming from an alien species of toad, native to France and Spain."

In the episode, which is set in summer time, Iolo also heads to Aberystwyth, where it's breeding time for the seagulls. This means they become town gulls as they search for food. The number of seagulls is believed to have trebled during the past 15 years. With so much food available on Welsh streets, many gulls have adapted to live and nest in towns further inland, further away from the coast.

Iolo also finds a pair of peregrines nesting on the tallest building in Swansea, being observed by the unofficial peregrine warden of Swansea. From their nest, they scan for their next targets and as the fastest bird in the world, they have no problem in catching some pigeons or even seagulls for their next meal.

Iolo’s Street Life airs on Friday, September 27, at 7.30pm on BBC One Wales.
