MONTGOMERY Young Farmers Club has appointed a new county development officer.

Ffion Wright-Evans has taken on the role having been involved with the YFC for more than 10 yearrs.

She said: "I feel privileged to have accepted the role of county development officer for Montgomery YFC having been connected to the organisation since 2008 when I became a member of Llanfyllin YFC.

"I firmly believe that you get out of YFC what you put in to it and the learning and experiences you receive in return are exceptionally rewarding. I cannot think of a more gratifying opportunity than being able to call Montgomery YFC my place of work."

She added: "I am honoured to now be in a position to give back to an organisation that has given me so much by supporting young people and driving the Federation forward.

"I am truly excited about the new YFC year and working alongside our members, county officials and partner organisations to develop new opportunities for young people in the Montgomery Federation of YFC and communicate these effectively.

"There are a wealth of opportunities within rural areas and across Montgomery and I sincerely hope that the members take advantage of these and embrace them in order to become great citizens within our communities.

"We have already had a busy start to the year, with training evenings and meetings to prepare for the events of the year ahead, starting with our County Field Day on Saturday, September 28, which is being held at Glangwden, Trefeglwys by the kind permission of the Jerman family.

"This is an opportunity for members to take part in a variety of competitions and demonstrate their agricultural skills, from fencing to stock judging, to crafts and cookery, there is something for everyone."
