A MAN has died after being hit by a train on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed that the man was killed after being struck by a train on the line near Chirk.
Shortly before 4pm, officers from BTP were called to the railway following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
The BTP spokesman said: "Paramedics also attended however a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"His family have been informed. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The Leader previously reported several police cars, ambulances and an air ambulance were seen in Chirk Bank, near Wrexham.
Lines between Chester and Shrewsbury remained blocked while emergency services were at the scene.
