An arts student has worked with Llanidloes Hospital patients to capture their memories for an "innovative" project.
Katie Stallard, a BTEC Level 3 Art & Design extended diploma student at Grŵp Colegau NPTC Group of Colleges, worked with Penrallt Unit patients to translate their memories into cushions created from silk, cotton, acrylic paint, embroidery, mono print, lino print.
With the Dr Seuss quote - “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory” - as inspiration, Katie’s final diploma piece was inspired by the memories of patients on the Penrallt Day Hospital at Llanidloes Hospital.
"The purpose of my piece was to celebrate the life of the older generation and allow them to relive their favourite memories through my artwork.
“I was really touched by one of the patients who said that the project has inspired her to start painting and writing poetry again.”
Katie added: "Thank you to Ruth, Liz and Carol (nursing staff) from the Penrallt Day Hospital and especially all the patients for your help and encouragement!
"A valuable service to the older community."
