ANYONE looking to buy tickets to a sold-out comedy gig in Newtown are being urged to be aware of a potential scam.

Comedian and TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan is to perform at the town's Hafren Theatre this Thursday night to try out new material ahead of a new tour.

But the venue has been made aware of a potential scam which is doing the rounds ahead of the gig.

A spokesman for the Hafren said: "We have been made aware of a scam to sell tickets for the Romesh Ranganathan gig this Thursday.

"The individual does not have tickets to the gig and is asking for payment in the form of Amazon Gift Vouchers so please be aware that you are unlikely to receive the tickets.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to state that selling our tickets at a profit contravenes our terms and conditions and we have the ability to nullify any tickets sold in this way."

The spokesman added: "We have surnames and therefore the seat numbers and we have seen tickets sold on some Newtown forums for a profit so please be careful as you may find these tickets invalid."

As the show is a warm-up gig, any photography or video recording is strictly forbidden and anyone breaching this will be removed from the premises.
