A BUSY weekend is in store at Newtown with a Flavour of France in the Town Twinning celebrations and the annual Food Festival.
It is 20 years since Newtown was twinned with the French town of Les Herbiers and the two decades of friendship are celebrated on Friday with folk dancing to the music of local band Ffonic at a ceilidh.
There will also be Welsh themed finger buffet at the Monty Club venue, with proceeds towards the Montgomery Youth Music visit to France next spring.
The Twinning Group’s French Village will also be a feature of the Newtown Food Festival this Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8.
Live music from 11am on Saturday has Saxophone Sundae, Abi Foster, Tommy Mills, Ben Smith, The Secret Sextet, and The Klezmonauts; and in the evening Ross Embrey, CalFun, Dangerous Dave, Lucky Pierre and Bishops Castle’s Fight The Bear. Sunday has music from noon with Newtown Silver Band, Newtown Male Voice Choir, Maldwyn Strings, and Ffonic.
