One person has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision near Dolgellau on Tuesday morning.

The incident involving a Daf HGV and a maroon-coloured 4x4 happened on the A470 Dinas Mawddwy Pass between Cross Foxes and Mallwyd at around 8.30am.

The passenger in the 4x4 has been airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries while two other people were taken to Ysbyty Bangor for treatment.

The road has been closed since the incident with North Wales Police urging anybody who witnessed it to come forward.

Sgt Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit said: "I am appealing for anyone who was travelling on the A470 in the area of the Dinas Mawddwy Pass around the time of the incident and to anyone who has dash cam footage to contact police on 101 or https://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/live-chat-support quoting reference X124727."

A spokesperson for Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We responded with three emergency ambulances and our crew were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance as well as the Police and Fire & Rescue Services.

"One patient is being transported by air ambulance to Stoke Hospital, two other patients are being conveyed to other emergency units."
