A MAN charged with stalking offences has been released on bail as he awaits a trial date.
Neville Gwilt, 35, of Coed y Llan, Llanidloes, appeared from custody via videolink at Welshpool Magistrates Court, having appeared at a weekend hearing of North East Wales Magistrates' Court at Mold.
It is alleged that between June 24 and August 7 he pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of a woman.
Mr Gwilt had denied the charges and pleaded not guilty at the Mold hearing.
Helen Tench, prosecuting, said the Crown Prosecuting Service needed more time to prepare before a trial date could be fixed. A case management hearing date has been set for September 10.
Robert Hanratty, defending, made a bail application on behalf of Mr Gwilt.
Magistrates agreed that Mr Gwilt could be released on bail subject to the following conditions; that he is not to enter Newtown, he is not to contact the woman directly or indirectly, and he is to reside at his address in Llanidloes on a tagged curfew between 8pm and 9pm until his next court appearance in September.
