West Mercia Police are warning commuters to stay away from Llynclys Crossroads, between Oswestry and Welshpool, after a serious crash on Wednesday morning.
Oswestry's Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted at 11.09am that an air ambulance, as well as police and Shropshire Fire were all on scene.
The SNT have urged drivers to seek alternative routes while the accident work continues.
The crossroads have long been a serious accident blackspot, with a petition in place to introduce traffic lights gathering momentum.
The accident is the fourth at the crossroads in as many months.
Police are now stating queues at the crossroads will be around two-three hours long.
Serious RTC A483 Llynclys crossroads. Air amb, police and fire on scene. Avoid area and use alternate route.
