SEVERAL planning applications were given the green light on Thursday, August 1, as the Powys County Council planning committee raced through its agenda.

  • Plans to replacement a water pumping station kiosk at Laundry Lane, Moelygarth, near Guilsfield;
  • Plans to change the use of an outbuilding into an engineering workshop at the Village Hall in Sarn, near Newtown;
  • An application for a barn to store silage at Trevithel Court, Three Cocks, near Brecon;

were all approved by councillors.

An application discharging contaminated land conditions at Archdeacon Griffiths Church In Wales School, Llyswen, has been completed and approved by councillors

This is part of the scheme to demolish the school and build a new one.

An application to also replace windows under permitted development at Welshpool High School was also passed unanimously.

But, Cllr Phil Pritchard (Welshpool – Castle) pointed out that the address on the application was wrong.

Cllr Pritchard wanted to see the Gallowstee Bank line in the address replaced by “Erw-Wen.”

Planning officer Kate Bowen replied: “On the application form it said Salop Road, Welshpool, SY21 7RE.”

Cllr Michael J Jones (Independent – Churchstoke) added: “I’m a governor there, it’s the best school in Powys.”

Committee chairman, Cllr E Michael Jones, (Independent- Old Radnor), said that the correct address would be found.
