AN ALL ability cycling charity in Wrexham has received cash boost courtesy of a local craft group.

Pedal Power, which gives everyone regardless of their disability or aptitude the chance to cycle, was delighted to receive a cheque from the Gresford Craft Group for £800.

The donation came after Peter Kennedy, Cycling 4 All officer, visited the group's annual Festival of Craft. He gave a presentation about Pedal Power and what it offers to local people and how cycling can help to improve health, both physical and mental.

The service is suitable for people who may find it hard to participate in other forms of exercise and with a variety of serious health conditions including learning disability, physical disability, MS, Stroke and Cardiac health problems.

The craft group aims to keep traditional textile crafts and skills alive and Pedal Power was surprised and delighted by the generosity of the donation.

Mr Kennedy said: “We are really grateful to the Gresford Craft Group for their kind and generous donation which will make a real difference to Pedal Power.

"Its donation will mean that even more people, particularly those in poor health and those with a disability can enjoy the health benefits and freedom that coming to Pedal Power brings."

Pedal Power is a unique local charity and welcomes donations from individuals and businesses to help to sustain the service.

It is based at Alyn Waters Country Park and has a wide range of specialist bikes and a traffic free cycle route - meaning that people with many different abilities can experience the joy and health benefits of cycling.
