THE new leader of the House of Commons has given support to the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Brecon and Radnorshire.

Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, has been in the area to campaign ahead of Thursday's by-election.

He took to the High Street in Crickhowell with Conservative candidate Chris Davies, speaking to voters and calling in on local shops.

The MP for North East Somerset, Mr Rees-Mogg also brought along his young son Peter.

Mr Rees Mogg said: “I am delighted to be here in Brecon and Radnorshire to support Chris Davies.

"Chris is excellent and hard working. He is committed to Brexit, and ensuring we leave by October 31. I hope very much to be working with him in Westminster again.”

Mr Davies said: “It has been great to have Jacob Rees-Mogg here in Crickhowell.

"He is one of the many senior ministers I have brought to Brecon and Radnorshire – putting this constituency firmly on the map. I would like to thank Jacob for his support.”

The by-election is being held on August 1.
