THE 2019 Landed Festival gets under way with live music on five stages over the three days near Nantmel, Rhayader, starting on Friday, August 2.

Smoke Like a Fish and Cartoon Violence are two of the Mid Wales bands appearing, with other names including Paradox, Eff The Count, Wide Open Spaces, Deadly Lightshades and Monsterometer on the Back To Back main stage.

The new fifth stage introduced this year is Nefelibata, focussing on singers and bands aged under 25 showcasing a variety of the best music and talent.

There will also be Verbal Melodies poetry and hip hop, and The Spinney Stages of banging original upbeat EDM.

Landed’s own kid team will be delivering an assortment of workshops and crafty fun with puppets and the annual Pimp Your Duck Race, with Panic Circus and Jimmy Juggle, plus the Sugar and Spice Cafe and other caterers.

Day tickets are available as well as £70 adult weekend tickets, and £34 teen weekend tickets, at landedfestival.co.uk

Starting next Friday, August 9, is another popular weekend event on the Shropshire border with Farmer Phil’s Music Festival at Gatten Farm, Ratlinghope.

It’s the 21st birthday festival with a wealth of bands and events including The Special Neville Staples Band, Lindisfarne and Slim Chance.

The bar is actually open from Wednesday night with live bands.

Friday, August 16, sees the start of the El Sueno Existe/The Dream Lives On weekend, eighth biannual festival of Latin American music, politics, song, dance, film, poetry and more commemorating Chilean singer songwriter Victor Jara, at venues in Machynlleth.

To finish off the month is one of the country’s top events with the Shrewsbury Folk Festival on the bank holiday weekend of August 23 to 26.
