It has been announced that Welshpool businessman and optometrist, Jonathan Partridge, has died aged 53.

Mr Patridge, who is from Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday. 

He was the "much loved and devoted husband" to Beverly and "cherished father" of Lucy, Joseph and Benjamin. 

He was also described by the family as a "true friend to many".

Posting on Facebook, Jonathan Partridge Optometrists said: "We at Jonathan Partridge Optometrists are very sad to announce that; Jonathan Partridge, Principal Optometrist, passed away on Wednesday, July 24.

"A service to celebrate his life will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury on Wednesday, August 14, at 11am. Formal dress please. All welcome."

Donations will also be recieved at the service, and will be divided between the Wales Air Ambulance and the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre, as supported by the High Sheriff of Powys, Mr Davud L Peate.

Jonathan and his wife Beverley founded Jonathan Partridge Optometrists in April 1990.

In October 2015, the business moved into a new purpose built premises on Church Street.

Jonathan graduated from Aston University and came third in the country for his outstanding performance in the Professional Qualifying Examinations winning the Colebrook Prize.
