A caravan was "intentionally placed" in a field in Llananno and "set alight", police have said.

The fire took place on yesterday (Thursday, July 25) at around 7.15am, and the fire service were also at the scene.

Llandrindod Fire Station posted a picture of the burnt our caravan on Twitter and said: "...Mobilised to a touring caravan on fire at Llananno just north of Llanbister.

"On arrival caravan well alight... and not much left!"

A spokesperson from Dyfed Powys Police said: "Newtown Police are investigating a caravan fire that occurred just off the road in a farm field at Llananno by the large layby near the public toilets at approximately 7.15am on Thursday, July 25.

"It appears that the caravan has been intentionally placed into the field and set alight.

"Police would like to identify a dark coloured vehicle seen pulling away from the vicinity around this time and for anyone else to come forward who saw the caravan being manoeuvred into the field."
