MILLIONS of people watched Builth Male Voice Choir sing live on television at the 100th Royal Welsh Show.

The choir, which celebrated its 50th anniversary, last year performed live on the BBC The One Show following an interview with Hollywood star Michael Sheen and presenters Matt Baker and Angellica Bell.

More than 40 choirs members sang 'Still as the Night' as the Royal Welsh Show wedding couple Arwel and Bethan Edwards did their first dance near the Main Ring.

The choir was in high demand on the first day of the show where they sang 'We Rise Again' for a pre-record of Coast & Country programme which will be broadcast tonight (Wednesday, July 24) at 8pm on ITV Wales.

Earlier in the day Welsh-language channel S4C recorded the wedding of Mr and Mrs Edwards who had won a competition to be the first to tie the knot at the show.

The choir sang 'You are So Beautiful', 'The Water is Wide', 'Let it Be Me' and 'Unchained Melody' while the ceremony took place in the bandstand.

Derek Hope, chairman, said as "the local choir" that is was "a real honour" to perform on the first day of a special celebratory year marking 100 shows.

Choir members said they were "very appreciative" of the effort made by Musical Director Adrian Morgan and Accompanist Ann Bufton to overcome the difficulties of singing outdoors.
