PRIMARY school pupils enjoyed a visit to a Victorian workhouse before they move up to high school.
A transition day was hosted by Llanfyllin High School for pupils from primary schools in the area who will be moving up to the school next year.
As part of the day, they experienced a visit to former Victorian workhouse, Y Dolydd.
Ann Roberts, assistant headteacher of Llanfyllin High School said: “The transition project was part of a three day transition programme held at Llanfyllin High School.
“The morning comprised of a series of activities that centred around life at Y Dolydd, a Victorian workhouse.
“Pupils were involved in a tour, making and tasting gruel, handwriting lessons, carrying water, washing and digging a vegetable patch.
“In the afternoon, pupils made use of the high school computer suites to research information on previous residents and about Y Dolydd and its history. It was a very warm day but a good day was had by all.”
