TALENTED young singers from Mid Wales Opera (MWO) will be appearing in the magnificent setting of Gregynog Hall, near Newtown, on Sunday, July 21, for an evening of magical music.

The Friends of MWO’s popular summer concert will take place in the glorious setting of the Music Room, starting at 6pm.

The evening will once again be led by superb pianist Charlotte Forrest, who has spent the last 10 years on the staff at Opera North, as well as being a visiting member of music staff at Glyndebourne, ENO, Grange Park and Festival Operas, Garsington Festival, Longborough, Opera Holland Park, Birmingham Opera Company, Buxton Festival, Aldeburgh Music and the Royal Opera House.

The event showcases three talented young singers from across Wales.

Soprano Angharad Davies graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was previously part of MWO’s production of Handel’s 'Semele'; soprano Rhiannon Ashley and bass Emyr Jones, both students at the Royal Northern College of Music, performed in MWO’s Spring’s production of 'Dido and Aeneas'.

The programme includes a selection of operatic treats - and a long interval to explore the hall’s beautiful grounds.

The event is also a great opportunity to hear about MWO’s coming season with a SmallStages tour of 'Mrs Peachum’s Guide to Love and Marriage', based on John Gay’s 'The Beggar’s Opera', opening in November; and a tour of Mozart’s enduring classic 'The Marriage of Figaro' in Spring 2020 in partnership with Ensemble Cymru and the Wales International Academy of Voice.

County Times:

Funds raised at the event support MWO’s education work.

Tickets cost £15 and are available from The Hafren on 01686 614555 or email boxoffice@thehafren.co.uk.
