It is nearly time for the Royal Welsh Show. This is our grandson's favourite week. As we live only half an hour from Builth Wells, we go every day so we explore every corner of the showground. It is amazing how there is something for every one, of all ages.

NFU Cymru has a range of talks and advice on the NFU Cymru/NFU Mutual stand including light refreshments from 9am to 6pm every day.

On Monday, Minette Batters will be joining our president, John Davies and deputy president, Aled Jones on the stand during the day. There will be a breakfast event, 9 – 10am, hosted by the House of Commons Affairs Committee. Come along and make your views known to our Welsh MPs. At 11am there will be a seminar ‘Brexit - What next for farming?’ At 2pm another seminar ‘Retailers - Ensuring Welsh red meat is at the core of the supply chain’.

On Tuesday, at 11am a seminar ‘Net Zero - An ambition for Welsh Agriculture’ will be held to discuss climate change and the challenges for agriculture.

On Wednesday the subject of the seminar at 11am will be ‘Improving Water Quality – the way forward’. There will also be a special catchment model illustrating the risks and opportunities for nutrient management in the farmed environment on display every day on the stand. In the afternoon at 2pm the seminar will focus on the new Welsh Government consultation entitled ‘Sustainable Farming and Our Land’. The consultation, which follows on from last year’s ‘Brexit and Our Land’, was launched on Tuesday, July 9.

Throughout the week there will be exhibits by the Wales Farm Safety Partnership, the DPJ Foundation and for children, the Discovery Barn, which will be packed with farming related games and activities.

There will be a business zone on the stand profiling services and discounts available to members and staff and office holders will be available throughout the day. I will be on the stand from 3 - 6pm on Tuesday, July 23, if anyone would like a chat.
